Hello and wow! David had all sorts of ideas for reporting around a dull day at the nets with supporting pictures and the birds had their own ideas. So, we had a “Christmas” (first banding for the season) and a “Christmas, New Year’s, and 4th. of July” (first time handled at the station – ever!!).

Becky Suomala joined us in late afternoon and our “birds seen” list grew nicely because she has good ears and up to date field skills. Her arrival is also giving us the chance to get some paper work and photo editing caught up. 2 people can manage the station generally fairly well but it can be a stretch at times. 3 people is a real comfort. It’s still August so migration is sort of barely starting and the winds over night ended up in the right direction but were stronger than our small birds like to fly in so our expectations were not great and in that sense, the birds lived up to our expectations. But, the excitements – !!
Sara, Becky, Robin, and David send you some glow from the excitements – but we want to keep some for ourselves : ) !
