Hi! It’s back to regular greetings. Monday brought about an equal amount of interest in the weather and the birds – very limited amounts of both! Winds stayed basically varieties of south all night and the birds responded appropriately. We did have one new bird more than the day before – but! We would have had 2 but I apparently got too fascinated by the molt on the Common Yellowthroat and managed to get the band in the pliers but not on the bird. We also had another “Christmas.”
Lisa joined us a bit before supper and the Audubon Society of New Hampshire group came out until Thursday morning so our day’s seen lists will be wonderfully more complete for those days. The weather interest was a small shower which came through right at supper time and gave me what I regarded as picture opportunities.
So, Alexa, David, Lisa, and Robin are hoping that these reports remind you happily of what a special place Appledore Island is and what special people (Island staff and banding participants) bring us joy both here and whenever we think about it.
